The XI TIEC Conference marks the conclusion of the MSCA DN project "Training for a Hydrogen Economy based Renewable Energy Society in the Anthropocene" (THERESA), focused on advancing a sustainable hydrogen economy.
THERESA addresses three key pillars: reducing sectoral fragmentation to enhance socio-environmental sustainability, enabling the circular and sustainable use of hydrogen, and strengthening societal engagement in the energy transition.
In the context of the Anthropocene, the conference examines how law can enable - or hinder - meaningful and just decarbonisation. Energy transition is approached as a profound transformation of legal, economic, governance and democratic systems, with particular attention to renewable and low-carbon hydrogen as a tool to decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors such as industry and transport.
The conference is structured around three interconnected streams:
-
Governing the Sustainable Energy Transition: regulatory frameworks for decarbonisation.
-
Just Transition, Democracy and Participation: social and economic dimensions of energy transformation.
-
Competitiveness, Innovation and Energy Law in Polytransitions: regulation of innovation, sustainable finance and circular economy approaches.
